About Fuseta:
Fuseta is a parish in the municipality of Olhão located on the coast of the eastern Algarve, Faro district. It has an area of 0.36 square kilometres and is limited to the north and west by the parish of Moncarapacho, to the south by the Ria Formosa and to the east by the municipality of Tavira.
It was the former parish of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, a curatus of the Tavira municipality, to which it belonged and later separated. Land known for its fishermen who were involved in the discoveries, having been the first to fish in Terra Nova, after its discovery in the year 1500 by Gaspar Côrte-Real.
Their settlement began with some huts used by the fishermen to store all the fishing gear practiced in the area. Over time the number of huts increased allowing the fishermen who wanted to have better access to the bar to settle. A land of sea people, the village of Fuseta is mainly dedicated to fishing activities and the exploitation of its derivatives.
Due to the exploitation of the beaches and the Camping Park, Tourism in Fuseta has experienced in recent years a significant local development, especially in the summer, being visited by hundreds of tourists and visitors.
